Royal Caribbean International Independence of the Seas Tops Family Cruise Choice

It is no secret that Disney provides some of the best entertainment for families, especially for younger children, although for those cruisers looking for a family cruise to suit all ages then we’d recommend Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas. This Freedom Class cruise ship is much bigger than most and has an extensive list of onboard activities for both adults and children.

Not only will you find countless recommendations in forums for Independence of the Seas as a great family cruise, but we’ve seen a number of polls recently vote this Royal Caribbean cruise ship as the best family cruise leaving Southampton.
One of the best options to pick would be a 14-night Italian Mediterranean cruise, a couple leave this July and August, although it is worth noting this choice will be a little more expensive than the Spanish Mediterranean cruise. The benefit of the Italian Mediterranean cruise is most likely better weather and seeing a better range of destinations in our opinion.
We have personally been on both the Spanish and Italian Mediterranean cruises, which includes taking a cruise on Independence of the Seas. Cruising for 14 nights offers a lot more and will take you that much further if sailing from Southampton.

The rock climbing wall and Wave Rider both entertained our children, although these activities can get extremely busy at times, so you might want to book some time with these activities while docked at port if you’re walking off rather than taking an excursion.
A cheaper option – If you want to experience a cruise similar to that of Independence of the Seas, but want something a little cheaper then we can highly recommend a Voyager Class cruise ship. We’ll be cruising on Adventure of the Seas in summer 2014, so expect a full review then although we have found that prices are a bit cheaper and the ships include similar activities, entertainment programs etc.
