8 Hours in Labadee

Here’s how to make the most of your day in port.

Labadee, located on the northern coast of Haiti, is Royal Caribbean’s very own private beach destination. This little piece of paradise offers both action-packed experiences and peaceful relaxation, depending on which of the peninsula’s neighborhoodsyou visit: There’s Adrenaline Beach, Columbus Cove, the Town Square and more, all walkable from the port. However you decide to spend the day in Labadee, you’re sure to have a good time.

If you’re looking for adventure…
Time it takes: 45 minutes
Where you’ll find it: Buccaneer’s Bay
Hop aboard an inflatable tour boat at Buccaneer’s Bay for an exciting cruise along a portion of the scenic shoreline of Hispaniola (aka the island where Haiti and the Dominican Republic are located). The boat takes you on a sightseeing tour that includes the tiny-but-beautiful Amiga Island (about the size of one city block), local villages, and the Bay of Acul, Christopher Columbus’ first stop on the island in 1492.

Time it takes: One hour
Where you’ll find it: Buccaneer’s Bay
Soar through the sky to view the gorgeous mountains and smaller islands in and around Labadee from above the Caribbean Sea while parasailing. You can ride side-by-side with your love for an adventurous experience you’ll both remember forever.

Time it takes: 1 hour 15 minutes
Where you’ll find it: Adrenaline Beach
Enjoy breathtaking views as you zip down the world’s longest zip line over water—more than 2,600 feet long—at speeds of 40-50 miles per hour. You’ll end your thrill ride at Dragon’s Breath Rock, a unique rock formation where air and water forced through cracks in the rocks make a dragon-like “hissing” sound.

Where you’ll find it: Columbus Cove
Cool off while twisting and turning through nearly 300 feet of saltwater on Dragon’s Splash Waterslide in Columbus Cove. You’ll wander down a stone pathway through the Cove’s lush forest, then zoom down the slide and end up in an 18-foot splash zone.
Check out a Go Pro video of the zipline here.

Once you arrive, you’ll receive equipment and instruction so you’ll be ready to explore marine life—keep an eye out for sea urchins, sand dollars and colorful fish.

If you’re looking to relax…
Time it takes: As much or little as you’d like
Where you’ll find it: On the beach!
Nellie’s Beach is the perfect place to spend some time chilling out and enjoying the coastal scenery. You can take a leisurely kayak trip along the coastline, rent floating mats to lay out on, or spend the day lounging on complimentary beach chairs.

Time it takes: 3 hours
Where you’ll find it: Buccaneer’s Bay
Escape to a private beach where you can enjoy a day of uninterrupted relaxation. Time it takes: At your leisure
Where you’ll find it: Throughout the island
If you are a nature lover, take a stroll along a new trail through one of Haiti’s last rainforests. Explore the miles of nature pathways to check out the interesting rock formations and spot some of the island’s plentiful bird species.

Time it takes: 2 hours 15 minutes
Where you’ll find it: Buccaneer’s Bay
Take a catamaran through Haiti’s reef systems to a secluded sandbar. Once you arrive, you’ll be able to stand in open water, with a shipwreck on one side of you and the mountainous shore on the other. Listen to Caribbean tunes while you swim, chill out and sip on a Labadoozie, Labadee’s specialty frozen drink made of dark rum, coconut rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, papaya juice and cream of coconut.

Time it takes: At your leisure
Where you’ll find it: Barefoot Beach Club
Indulge in a relaxing massage in a private cabana overlooking limestone cliffs. The cabanas are secluded and enclosed with sheer curtains so you can enjoy the picturesque view of the clear ocean while you experience your private treatment from one of Labadee’s most scenic points.
